Chicken Treats ?
some fun treats for your flock and some ways to provide them to them
In the warm weather …

A block of ice ❄️
You can put vegetables or fruit in when you make the ice block
They’ll peck at the ice and dig for the fruit or the vegetables

Tea ?
I did another post explaining about the tea (see High Tea post)
It’s tea with some berries and mint

Watermelon ?
Cut it open in half
You can give it to them fresh or you can freeze it and they’ll even eat it frozen
That’s another way to get some cold stuff into them on a hot summer day

In the cooler weather…
Pumpkins and Gourds
If the pumpkins and gourds are edible for humans, then you could give them to your flock
If you only use part of it for yourself, you can give them the leftovers

Protein cakes ?
When they’re molting, the protein cakes will get extra protein in them to help new feathers comeback, grow in nice and strong

Oatmeal ?
Give them a hot treat
They like the same oatmeal that people eat, they really enjoy it
Just make sure it doesn’t have too much sugar if it’s flavored

If you want to give them some exercise while they’re getting their treats…
… you could create a tetherball
Hang a small net or basket from an upper beam in your hen house
Put a head of cabbage or a cucumber on it so that it swings ?
They have to do a little work to get to it or make them jump a little bit to get it

Fresh veggies ?
Hang a basket at a height that they can reach inside
Put leftover fresh vegetables in the basket
They’ll take it free will and pick out what they like
Different girls like different vegetables
These are some ways to give your flock extra nutrition and fun treats at the same time
It gives them something to do
The more they have to do around the henhouse, then the less bored they get
The less bored they get, the less they pick on each other

So, treat your flock to a little fun!
