When I first got into keeping chickens ?
I didn’t realize how easy they were to take care of
And how much like a pet they can be if you spend a lot of time with them.

So I’ve got one here, Goldie.
She prefers to sit on my lap or be carried around
When she wants to be carried around, she tugs on my pants to let me know she wants to get picked up
And caring for the chickens just really doesn’t take that much time. ⌛
I spend maybe two hours a week cleaning in the hen house, and that’s a good thorough cleaning
And other than that…
It’s just daily checking on their food and water ?
Giving them a treat every now and then ? ? ?
And picking up their eggs every day. ?

That’s really all it takes to care for chickens.
There’s not a lot to it.
It’s not a big time demanding thing, which is kind of cool, to do that little bit of work just to be able to walk outside to get fresh eggs everyday anytime I want them.

So if you’re thinking about getting backyard chickens
They’re not an animal that requires a lot of time
Do some research to see if they’re the pet for you
