Pruning Citrus Trees!

At least here in Arizona, there’s two schools of thought.

1- Trim the trunk so that the tree grows a lot bushier on top
2- Don’t trim the trunk allowing the branches to shade the trunk

You’ll hear pros and cons for both ☯️

I’m letting the little sprouts grow at the bottom of my citrus trees ?
Citrus trees have a thin bark
They really need the shade of the branches to cover the tree trunk so it doesn’t burn in the sun ☂️
I don’t know about all fruit trees but …
Citrus trees are actually a bush and not a tree ?
So they are supposed to be bushy all the way down to the ground

I’ve also heard that the white tree trunk paint doesn’t really do so much to eliminate the UV damage that could be done to the trunk ?

You see them looking more like trees because people trim the trunks

Look into whether or not trimming your tree trunks on your fruit trees is really the best thing to do ?
After researching it a bit you may decide it’s really not the best thing
